Do
- Keep the same coffee and water amount.
- Change grind once.
- Taste before changing anything else.
Notice
- Fresh or flat
- sharp or hollow
- clean or rough
Words
Coffee, grind, ratio
Coffee quality and age set the ceiling. Ratio changes strength. Grind and time move extraction. Temperature is a later correction; use hot water as a default and adjust it only after coffee, grind, dose, and time make sense.
Grinder
A bowl grinder is enough to begin. Pulse, shake gently, and stop when the grind is close enough for the method. A burr grinder gives more control later; it is not the price of entry.
